Empowering community through design
As one of the smallest cities to house a design center, we have a big responsibility – to empower our community through design. The Sioux Falls Design Center (SFDC) is a non-profit organization built to sustain current and future like-minded creators. From designers and event planners to engineers and architects, we celebrate the creatives of our community by providing them with the physical space and tools to build their skillset and network.
Our four programming elements
Everything is centered around design and everything the Design Center does is inspired by its four programming elements: community, education, spaces, and design.
We provide a physical space for creators and those interested in design to work, collaborate, and build their network within the community.
We generate programs that speak to our supporters' design interests, such as PechaKucha Night and Design Week, to strengthen the conversation and community that surrounds design.
We partner with educational entities to provide class critiques, lectures and discussions, and student work showcases.
We showcase creative work in our gallery and host exhibitions.
We advocate for both interior and exterior design by providing collaborative sessions, partaking in downtown design standards, and facilitating public design reviews.
