Puppets: Suspension of Disbelief Show and Demonstration
Join us Thursday, August 15 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am for a Puppet Show with Brenda Paulsen.
From Howdy Doody to Lamb Chop, from the “Lonely Goatherd” in the film Sound of Music to Kermit the Frog and Sesame Street, puppets have had an important place in American culture. While more often relegated to “child’s play” in America, internationally, puppetry has been traced back 4000 years to India and has been an influential part of Asian and European theater for adults as well as children. The Paulsen Puppeteers will present a conventional hand puppet show from the stage and puppets of Joanie Sercl with an interactive workshop time with puppets and movement following the show.
“Puppets help us to see the unseen and to know the unknown in ways that are comic or comforting, according to our needs.”
~George Latshaw—creator and puppeteer of the puppets in the film Lili with Leslie Caron
